About Diwali

Diwali (as it is referred to in North India), or Deepavali (as it is referred to in South India), is the Indian "Festival of Lights." This major Indian festival that is very significant in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. The lights and lamps are referred to as dipa or deeya, which means "earthen lamp" and are often accompanied by the lighting of fireworks.
